Whale Season in Cabo!

It's Whale Watching Season in Cabo!

March and April are two of the best months to visit Los Cabos for many reasons. Springtime means thousands of young people are visiting Los Cabos on Spring Break. They come for the nightlife, the party atmosphere and to swim in the warm waters of our beautiful beaches. But it is also the perfect time for the young, and the young at heart, to visit Los Cabos to experience our high season for whale watching.

Whale sightings are extremely common this time of year, with the creatures often jumping, diving, and splashing their tails in the water, as well as spraying air from the holes in their heads, which is often followed by awe and applause from spectators on surrounding boats.

Whale watching is one of Cabo’s most popular attractions. The season officially runs from December 15th through April 15th, but whale watching typically ranges from November through May.

There are several different whale species than can be seen in Los Cabos, including humpback whales, gray whales, and blue whales, which are the largest mammal on earth. Humpback whales are most likely to be seen in November and December, while the two other species usually begin arriving in January.

As the season continues, the number of whale sightings increases as more and more of the animals migrate to the region’s warmer waters. In March and April, you’ll likely spot whales teaching their newborn calves to swim. They typically spend a few months here before they’re ready to make the return journey at the end of April and even as late as May, as most of the species have already begun to make their journey home.

Los Cabos offers a variety of whale-watching tours and options for seeing these creatures, from chartered cruises to jet skis, kayaks, and speedboats. Booking tours that have a knowledgeable guide is essential for a good experience, as they can identify the types of whales and will know the best spots to go which have the highest chance of spotting them.
